Drama Exercises

exercise blind carDrama Game: Blind Car

Objective:  To build trust between players.

This is a fun drama activity, that builds trust between students. I have taught this activity to many age groups including adults. A variety of feelings will come up for each participant. Encourage your students to express these feelings after both A and B have had a turn at being the "blind car".

Drama Warm Up Activity:  Yes let's do it!

Objective:  To get familiar with the names of your new students.

 1. The name game

  • Each person jumps into the circle and makes a gesture whilst saying their name. (start with yourself)
  • The rest of the group copy action and say the person’s name.
  • The first time round say names normally, then whisper, then shout, then angrily, then happily.

2. The initials game

Each person has to think of something they like to do, which matches their initials e.g. “I’m Jessica and I like jumping” (everybody jumps around with her). Use surnames as well to extend the game if you have time.

3. The enthusiasm game - Yes let's do it!

Think of activity's that can be mundane to do.  in response to any suggestions, the students shout out "Yes let's do it!"  This game will work best if you suggest the first two or three things then let others shout them out.

e.g. Teacher says: “Let’s touch our noses”   Students say:  “ Yes, let’s do it!” (all touch noses enthusiastically)

e.g Teacher  says: “Let’s clap our hands / turn around / lie on the floor / hop on one leg” etc. Students reply each time: 'Yes let's do it!"

See if you can get 3-5 more ideas from the students.

Then, make your final suggestion “Let’s all sit quietly in a circle boy- girl- boy - girl”.
