Denise Bertrand is a self-taught painter. Oil paint is her favourite medium as it takes a while to dry. She loves to add layers of paint to each canvas. Each layer tells a story. Her paintings are organic, honest and unfettered by strategy.

“When I start a canvas, I never know what will be the outcome of the painting. I never sketch out ideas beforehand.  I let the colours move me. The colours dictate the mood, texture and imagination of my explorations.  I work the painting from the inside out.”
